We at the Leeds Clinic believe your health and your families health is the most important thing in the world. As they say Health is wealth and therefore one should invest to keep well and pre-emptively deal with any early signs of disease and reduce the risk of stroke and heart issues.  Our health checks are probably the most comprehensive; and best health checks available being extremely affordable. So please give us a ring to discuss in detail.

We at the Leeds Clinic provide a comprehensive health check that involves having a full body examination carried out by doctors with decades of experience in disease prevention.  So, you are in very good hands.  At the end of the health checks you will be provided with a full report which may make certain recommendations/action for you to take

What does our comprehensive health check include:

Full body examination

This involves a comprehensive examination. This involves examining the patient and going examining all body systems thoroughly.   This will include heart examination, respiratory examination; neurological examination and Musculoskeletal examination. In addition, we undertake full comprehensive breast examination [females]

Blood pressure monitoring

High blood pressure can be a silent but deadly killer so it’s very important to have this regularly monitored.  We also do 24-hour blood pressure check if required.

Urine analysis

This allow us to pick up various diseases and can sometimes indicate further investigation is required.  Urine can be checked for sugar, bilirubin and blood amongst other things and can be a good screening tool for disease prevention and therefore should be routinely carried out.

Weight/height/Body Mass Index analysis.

This is a very important part of the Health check and the Body Mass Index can help formulate a plan for the future especially in relation to weight management.

Blood Tests

Full count

This looks at patient blood level to detect anemia among other things.  This also includes looking at platelets which can indicate other diseases.  Additionally, we look at your ‘white cells’ which are there to fight infection but also this can sometimes pick-up blood cancers.

Kidney Function

With this test we can look at how your kidney is functioning.  We measure urea, creatinine, sodium, potassium and eGFR. And therefore, we can keep an eye on the health of the kidney/urinary system.

Liver Functions

This test checks various liver enzymes and this pick up many conditions.  The health of the liver is immensely important as this is the engine of the body so its health is central to a healthy body.

Thyroid Function Test

This test can detect an under-active or overactive thyroid gland.  If the balance of the thyroid is not right then one can feel tired; gain weight; lose hair etc, we recommend this be checked annually.

Full cholesterol screen [full lipid screen]

We do a comprehensive screen for cholesterol. This test looks at ‘good’ and bad’ cholesterol.  This allows the clinician to calculate risk of cardiovascular disease and therefore one can preventive action to reduce the risk.

PSA -Prostate specific antigen [males]

This is a bloods test can detect diseases of the prostate and can sometimes indicate possibilities of prostate cancer.

Height/weight and Body mass index

We use tools to work out a patient’s cardiovascular risk.  We will specifically then advice various changes the patient requires to be made.

ECG

This uses electrical conduction to detect abnormalities of the heart.  This specifically looks at the function of heart such as rate/ rhythm.  This is an extremely important investigation.

Full Health Report

A Full Health Report will be issued to the patient for them to use for future reference and well indicating actions required for patient to undertake.

Additional bloods tests

We are also happy to undertake any additional blood tests you would like – or other we may recommend after the consultation/examination with the doctor.

It is advisable for you to fast from midnight onwards from the night before so your blood results are more accurate. We usually will have your health checks booked for the morning for this reason.

If there are any critical results discovered by The Leeds Clinic, you will be contacted immediately, so you won’t need to wait for your full results report to arrive to take appropriate action.

All packages come with GP consultation time depending on what has been booked, any concerns will be discussed with out GP but it is highly recommended to book in with your own GP too discuss your report in further detail.

The NHS doesn’t normally offer tests unless you display symptoms. The NHS does have a screening programme in place to screen for certain illnesses in people of certain ages. However, the NHS does not normally offer comprehensive screening with a detailed personalised results report.
