What Do Blood Tests Actually Tell You?

I’ll be honest, even working in this industry, I used to dismiss blood tests.

I thought they were only for when something was obviously wrong. If you felt fine (or fine enough), what was the point?

Then I did mine.

And it completely changed how I think about, and approach, my health.

My blood test results revealed I had inflammation and extremely low levels of vitamin D. Since then, I have made active steps to work on these areas, and my personal results have been clearer skin and healthier hair.

Blood tests aren’t about looking for problems, they’re about understanding what’s happening inside your body before problems show up.

So what can blood tests actually tell you?

In simple terms, they can flag:

🚩Vitamin and mineral deficiencies affecting energy and immunity

🚩Hormone imbalances

🚩Signs of inflammation

🚩Early markers linked to heart health or diabetes risk

🚩How well organs like your liver, kidneys and thyroid are functioning

What they don’t do is instantly label you with something scary. They give us useful information – a starting point – so we can act early if needed.

That clarity alone can be incredibly reassuring.

While some patients come in knowing exactly what they want to check for, it’s totally normal not to know. In fact, it’s the part that often puts people off.

You don’t need to understand the terminology or arrive knowing which markers to test. We’ll talk through how you’re feeling and guide you towards the right panel.

If you’re not sure what you need, that’s completely normal. Book an e-consult, and we’ll help you decide what makes sense for you.

How accurate are private blood tests compared to NHS testing?

A common concern is whether private testing is as reliable as NHS testing.

In reality, the accuracy is equivalent when tests are processed in accredited laboratories.
