Enjoy your summer holiday safely

“I wanna soak up the sun.”

 – Sheryl Crow

Yes, Sheryl, we all do. Especially when it’s not guaranteed to stick around during a British summer!

Whether you’re heading abroad to hotter climes or staycationing here in the UK, we need to remember the importance of staying safe in the sun. And remember that we can’t soak it up all day long; we need breaks.

As big advocates of looking after our skin, we wanted to express the importance of reaching for the SPF and remembering the key points to keep ourselves and our families safe during the warmer, lighter months.

Summer is the season when many of us enjoy spending time outdoors, whether it’s going for a hike, swimming in a pool, or simply lounging in the sun. However, it’s important to remember that prolonged exposure to the sun’s harmful UV rays can have serious consequences for our skin. Here are some tips to help you stay safe and protect your skin during the summer months.

☀️ First and foremost, always wear sunscreen with at least SPF 30. Apply it generously and reapply every two hours, especially if you’re sweating or swimming. Even if it’s cloudy or overcast, UV rays can still penetrate through the clouds and cause damage to your skin.

☀️ It’s also a good idea to wear protective clothing, such as a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and lightweight, long-sleeved shirts and pants. Seek shade whenever possible, especially during the hottest parts of the day, typically between 10am and 4pm.

☀️ If you accidentally burn in the sun, be sure to treat it promptly. Apply aloe vera or a cooling lotion to soothe the skin, and avoid further sun exposure until the burn has healed.

☀️ Remember that tanning, whether in the sun or in a tanning bed, is never safe. It can lead to premature ageing, wrinkles, and even skin cancer. Embrace your natural skin tone and protect it from further damage.

By taking these simple precautions, you can enjoy the summer months safely and protect your skin from harmful UV rays. Stay safe and have fun!

We’ve just enjoyed a much-needed family holiday and topped up the vitamin D levels!

Tell us – where will you be spending your summer this year?

We’d love to hear from you!
