PCR swab testing involves taking a sample from the nose and throat using a long swab. This sample can be tested to show whether there is an active covid-19 infection. The PCR test looks for the presence of the covid-19 virus in the sample. It looks for the presence of the virus’s RNA (genetic material). It is very accurate.

The travel situation is changing so rapidly that we cannot give advice of this nature. We recommend that you frequently check the advice provided by the Foreign Office for your destination. Your airline may also have specific advice.

However we provide a Travel Test Certificate if your symptoms come back as negative.

The travel situation is changing so rapidly that we cannot give advice of this nature. We recommend that you frequently check the advice provided by the Foreign Office for your destination. Your airline may also have specific advice.

However we provide a Travel Test Certificate if your symptoms come back as negative.

This is not recommended as the airline could refuse to allow you to travel and may require you to rebook your flight which could disrupt yours and your family’s trip. There is also no official verification with the NHS test so anybody could in fact do the test whereas we would require your NHS number so each person is individually verified.

You can book online with us using our online booking process

Once you have booked you will get an email with your appointment details awaiting for the clinic to approve and accept your chosen date and time, Once it has been approved you will get confirmation of this also. You can then register your details with us online by clicking on the Register link at the top of the website, we require these details to complete your information for your results and the test certificate. A copy of your passport can be uploaded online also to confirm your identity for the test and fit to fly certificate.

The online registration form will capture details of your destination, when you are due to travel, how many hours you require to be tested before and your name/NHS number* and date of birth and passport number.

You can call us on 0113 240 1234 or email reception@leeds-clinic.co.uk with any questions

*you can obtain your NHS number by phoning your GP surgery or it may be on a letter from the hospital/GP.

The cost of PCR testing start from £80

We also can offer group discounts. We also provide a same day service of which the test must be conducted before 11 am to reach the lab on time to provide the test results on same day at the cost of £120 Contact us for more information

If you have covid-19 symptoms you should follow the advice of the NHS. Airlines have the right to refuse travel to anyone they believe is not fit to fly so if staff suspect you have symptoms such as a fever or new persistent cough you may be turned away. We would not be able to issue you a Travel Test certificate if you are.

To book your PCR test with us please make sure you have your correct details given to us and a copy of your passport to confirm your identity.

We can only offer refunds in the event of flight cancellation and require at least 48 hours notice and proof of the flight being cancelled. Otherwise we cannot offer refunds unfortunately as the slots are reserved and cannot be offered to other customers.

In line with recent Covid regulations, if you can no longer travel or cancel your booked test, Any valid refunds can take up to 7 working days to process, The Leeds Clinic will charge a £30 administration fee but shall reimburse the remaining amount. All refunds need to be requested to info@leeds-clinic.co.uk

Once you have carried out the test with us and your results come back to us from the accredited lab, we email you your fit to fly certificate. You can use this certificate issued by The Leeds Clinic to travel abroad for a holiday or business trip.

Pre-Departure Lateral Flow Testing

pre-departure test

The quickest pre-departure Covid-19 test

You’ll need to take a Covid-19 test at least 72 hours prior to your travel to the UK.

Avoid the stress, cost and hassle of finding a test abroad by purchasing a rapid lateral flow test from The Leeds Clinic before you travel.

The test result is overseen by The Leeds Clinic where you can send in a image of your test via email to us to reception@leeds-clinic.co.uk  and your result will be readable to us to prove you are negative. It is then verified by our team to give an official certificate of results.

How our pre-departure test works

Taking a Covid test before returning to the UK is stressful. Don’t worry; you can take our quick and affordable test abroad with you.

Book your test well in advance of your departure. You can pick up your Kit from us which you can take with you for your return to the UK.

Make sure you arrange the test to be taken in the correct time frame to have your test accepted.

Once we have confirmed your test results are negative we will email you a certificate to travel back to the UK.

Why do I need a pre-departure test?

Under the UK government’s rules for travellers arriving or returning to the UK, everybody must take a Covid-19 test no earlier than 72 hours before the start of their journey. Whether you’re travelling to the UK from a green, amber or red list country, proof of a negative test is required.

Each country has different requirements for entry.  Some accept only nucleic acid tests like PCR, others accept antigen tests including lateral flow tests meeting certain criteria.  For UK entry the test must meet performance standards of ≥97% specificity, ≥80% sensitivity at viral loads above 100,000 copies/ml. These standards are also recommended by the World Health Organization, and have been accepted by several other countries including Germany and Italy. The LFD tests we use meet these UK and international standards.  However, if you are planning to use our LFD test for Fit to Fly outbound travel,  please check the test requirements of your destination country as regulations can change quickly.

PCR test is the gold standard in COVID-19 testing. It offers the most accurate results as it can detect even the smallest amount of virus. This means that a negative PCR test result provides the most reliable indication you can safely continue to work and travel.

Not all PCR tests are equivalent. The DHSC requirements for Day 2 arrival PCR test are different from other PCR tests such as PCR Fit to Fly. PCR is a methodology that uses assay reagents which can have very different performance characteristics such as sensitivity, specificity or limit of detection. It could target one or multiple genes for example. It might also need different buffer (liquid) used for the sample collection (when customers are swabbed) to ensure that all the tests required by DHSC (such as sequencing for the identification of variants of concern for positive Day 2 samples) can be carried out.

Lateral flow is an established technology, adapted to detect antigens that are present when a person has COVID-19. The best-known example of a lateral flow test is the home pregnancy test kit.

The test kit is a hand-held device with an absorbent pad at one end and a reading window at the other. Inside the device is a strip of test paper that changes colour in the presence of COVID-19 antigens.

A negative result means that active coronavirus infection was not detected, at the time of the test. However, this does not guarantee that you do not have coronavirus. It is not analysed in a laboratory, like the PCR tests are.

Passengers must follow the UK Government’s “Traffic Light” system in which countries are divided into Red, Amber or Green lists. What you must do when you arrive in England from abroad depends on where you have been in the 10 days before you arrive and which colour list those countries you visited fall into. The category each country is in will dictate the required testing and quarantine procedure. If you’re travelling into another country in the UK i.e. Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland please refer to the local government advice.

The government have advised the Traffic Light lists will be reviewed periodically, so it is your responsibility to ensure you arrange the correct arrivals testing. We will update our information following any government announcements as soon as we possibly can. Please make sure you follow the Government’s guidelines.

Day 2 & Day 8 Testing For International Arrivals

UK International  Arrivals Test

Travelers are advised to seek the latest advice from the government website as to which category they fall under.

Arriving in the UK from abroad? If you’re coming from a green list country, you’ll need to take a PCR test on Day 2 after your arrival. If you’re coming from an amber list country, you’ll need to take a PCR test on Day 2 and Day 8.

People you live with in the UK, or people you are staying with, should also quarantine for 10 days from the date of your positive test.

You still need to take a test on or after day 8 to check that you do not have COVID-19, even if you get a negative result from your Test to Release and are released from self-isolation.

Test To Release Testing

Government Approved Test to Release (Reduce quarantine time from 10 days to 5 days)

Who is this good for?

Those that require to travel and need to reduce their time in quarantine so they can return back to work/education,

How does it work?

We use our partner government approved ISO 15189 Laboratory to provide Test to Release Certification if you test negative for Covid. We provide RT PCR Covid swabs to be arranged for pick up on day 4 by a nominated person and drop off the next day once you have self swabbed or you can attend on day 5 to self swab so we can send away for testing. Upon receipt of a negative PCR Test, the laboratory shall issue the test to release certificate directly to you.

We offer our Test to Release Test for £85

Please note The Leeds Clinic are not liable for any results, we provide the testing and arrange the delivery of all samples but the Laboratory shall be directly responsible for all results and certificates.

The Test to Release for International Travel scheme is for people who need to self-isolate on arrival in England.

You must wait at least 5 full days to take a test after you’ve left a destination not on the travel corridor list

  • If the result is negative, you can stop self-isolating

If you are travelling from a destination not on the travel corridors list, do not have a job that qualifies you for a travel exemption and do not want to opt in to test to release, you will need to self-isolate for the full 10 days after you were last in a destination not on the travel corridors list.

For example, if you leave a destination not on the travel corridor list at 11am on Monday, Tuesday will be your first full day. You can take a test no earlier than your fifth full day of self-isolation – Saturday. You must continue to self-isolate until you receive your test result.

Covid-19 Antibody Test

We offer our patients the Covid 19 Anti body Test, Antibody tests are used to detect antibodies to the COVID-19 virus to see if it’s likely that you have had the virus before.

You may test positive for antibodies even if you have never had symptoms of COVID-19. This can happen if you had an infection without symptoms, which is called an asymptomatic infection.

We offer a Covid-19 Antibody Test for £75

Antibodies are proteins which help to fight off infection and can protect us against future re-infection. By testing for antibodies, your result will indicate whether you have previously been infected with Covid-19 and produced antibodies in response.

Covid-19 antibody tests are suitable at least 14 days after the onset of symptoms. If you currently have symptoms, you should opt for our PCR swab test which will detect an active Coronavirus infection.

However we provide a Travel Test Certificate if your symptoms come back as negative.

An antibody test is suitable for anyone who wants to know whether their immune system has produced antibodies in response to a past Covid-19 infection.

A positive result indicates that you have previously been infected with Coronavirus and recovered. Your immune system has produced Covid-19 specific antibodies in response. However, you may still be able to pass the virus to others or become infected again. Researchers around the world are still investigating the link between antibodies and immunity, and why the virus affects individuals differently.

A negative result indicates that your body has not produced Covid-19 specific antibodies. This may be because:

You have had Covid-19 and produced antibodies in response, but they are no longer detectable.

You have had Covid-19 but your body did not produce specific antibodies to fight the virus. Instead, other antibodies and immune system factors may have contributed towards your recovery.

You are currently infected with Covid-19 and your body has not yet started to produce antibodies.

You have never had Covid-19.

The antibody test costs £75 and we will email you your results

Coronavirus Rapid Testing

We use the new UK Government approved test that checks for the presence of the virus within 15 minutes. A deep nasal swab is taken, and the swab is then mixed with a reagent. The resulting mixture then forms the basis for giving a result within 15 minutes.

Please contact us if you are corporate entity including schools/colleges/universities so we can discuss group packages.

We offer our Ag Rapid Test with a certificate  for £28

We use the new UK Government approved Healgen test that checks for the presence of the virus within 15 minutes. A deep nasal swab is taken, and the swab is then mixed with a reagent. The resulting mixture then forms the basis for giving a result within 15 minutes.

Rapidly test symptomatic staff for coronavirus without having to rely on government testing.

Regular testing of staff without symptoms to pick up coronavirus infection early and minimise contact with other staff who may have to isolate too.

Many employees are concerned about returning to the work environment and having to use public transport. Regular testing can give them confidence and security.

Whether you’re in hospitality, business, professional sports, manufacturing… coronavirus testing can give your clients the reassurance they need to do business with you.

Coronavirus Rapid test costs £28

We have robust processes and logistical support that can handle large volumes of testing as required. We can comfortably support you as an employer for AF rapid testing. Contact us to if you are corporate entity including schools / colleges / universities so we can discuss group packages.

If you book the Rapid Test + Certificate at the cost of £40 you will receive a certificate of your results. You must check with the airline or country flying to if this will be an acceptable form of test to enter the country or to board the flight.  The Leeds Clinic cannot be held responsible for not checking with your Airline for specific requirements and lab guidelines for this test.
